My Approach

Optimized.41_2Natural,  organic and eco-conscious.  Most of us want to make better choices, but when you get into it, it seems overwhelming.  So we  do what we’ve always done.  We don’t have time to read the ingredients, sift through the information and come up with the healthier options for our family.  And… it seems to be working well enough.

Except as a nation our children are getting sicker and our cancer rates are the highest in the world.  Oh, and there’s a mass of plastic in the dudrums of the ocean and the ice caps are melting.

I founded Pure Natural Diva because in trying to make the best choices for my family ~ when my friends kept asking me what was working for me I decided I needed a place to share.

I call the my approach GLAM Wholeliving.  Change is not easy.  Most people are not prepared to give up style or performance, changes need to be easy to implement, and we don’t want our children growing up feeling like they are misfits or our missing out.

I grew up with a mother who was ahead of her time in terms of being an environmentalist -translation hippy – we had plastic bags rinsed, drying and stuck on the sides of our kitchen cabinets. We also had an alfalfa sprout business.  When I was 13 I was responsible for growing 350 lbs of sprouts every week! More on the teepee and communal dairy farm another time.

My younger sister, Alania, is sure to chime in here.   She has followed in my mothers footsteps – in many ways – working in the green industry, organizing earth day festivals and now owns Indigo Baby, an eco friendly baby store in Santa Fe.

In our family I’m the conservative/mainstream one. I’ve been a “girly-girl” for as long as I can remember – I love my high heels, mani/pedi’s, and spas.

In our family I’m the conservative/mainstream one. I’ve been a “girly-girl” for as long as I can remember – I love  high heels, mani/pedi’s, and spa visits. I keep my ’sisters” high and dry, in a lace trimmed bras, and I don’t usually leave my house without wearing make up. I moved to Los Angeles – enough said.

In converting to natural products – performance counts. I want to keep fighting the aging process with active ingredients. I want great smelling products. I want the products I’m used to without the harmful ingredients… and a little glitz wouldn’t hurt.

I often buy organic, but not each and every time.  If I recommend a product – I’m not saying you can’t find purer options.  It’s balancing trade-offs.

I use disposable diapers, I was nine years old when my first sister was born and had to change more cloth diapers than I can remember, I promised myself… never again. I know cloth would be a whole lot greener. I admit freely and openly – I am not perfect.

I’m doing the best I can, one choice at a time. In a time when we’re bombarded with information. It’s so easy to get overwhelmed and give up.  There are so many areas that I can improve on, but I know I’m doing my best.

My goal is to help my readers sift through the maze.
