Cosmopolitan Recipe: Friday Night Martini
By Tania Reuben
I just mixed myself a lovely cosmopolitan. Full of not that much that’s good for me!
All in the name of using up my rosie’s grenadine syrup – first ingredient high fructose corn syrup. Although I also used an organic orange from our tree in the back yard – so that balances it out a little.
2 oz Vodka
.5 oz Cointreau
.25 oz Simple Syrup or if you are using it up to Grenadine
4 oz of Cranberry Juice
The juice from one orange (after slicing a ring for garnish.
Mix together in a cocktail shaker add ice and shake hard. I like to get the ice chips floating on top. Yum.
After a long day of working on Pure Natural, sorting coin currency (long story) and chasing toddlers. This is delightful!

Safe Paint: Interior Paints Impact Indoor Air Quality & Health
Safe Paint: Interior Paints Impact Indoor Air Quality & Health
If you are painting your home, consider the impact that painting your home will have on the quality of the air you breath, everyday, all day.
Consider the safety of the VOC’s (volitile organic compounds) that the paints release into your home. Do we really want to be breathing it all in? Lung Disease, Asthma and allergies are all on the rise in our country and indoor air quality is part of the problem.
We all want our home to look it’s best, but what good is an amazing looking home, if it’s not safe for you and your family to live in. Make sure you build safety into the fundamental base of a design plan for your home.
To avoid the health risk you will want to look for Low or preferably Zero VOC paint. The following manufacturers have lines that you can try:
Consider the following brands manufacturing “Safe Paint”
- Benjamin Moore EcoSpec
- Sherwin Williams Harmony – Interior Latex
- Dunn Edwards Ecoshield Interior Latex Flat – personally Dunn-Edwards is a pain in the you know what – anytime I’ve tried to buy paint, or quart size samples – they want me to come back to pick it up in 24 hours – what’s with that!
